Meet the Bethany Candidates

What you need to know to vote in the Bethany elections, as well as profiles of the candidates.

The Municipal Election for the following offices will be held on MONDAY, May 2, 2011: First Selectman, Selectman, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, Tax Collector, Board of Finance, Bethany Board of Education, Board of Assessment Appeals, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Amity Board of Education.  The polls will be open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Bethany Town Hall.

A limited voter registration session will be held on Friday, April 29, between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon.  This session is ONLY for those whose qualification as to age, citizenship or residence was attained since April 25.

Residents may also register to vote at the Town Clerk’s Office any weekday between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm or Monday evenings between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

Residents who are unable to go to the polls due to illness or disability, or expect to be out of town on May 2 are encouraged to vote by absentee ballot.  Anyone with questions about absentee ballots may call the Town Clerk’s Office at 393-2100, extension 104.

This year there will be a 2-sided ballot. Take care to vote both sides when you come to the polls. Please read the instructions carefully since there are several multiple opening offices (such as Board of Education) on the ballot.  For these, you will have the opportunity to “vote for any two” or “vote for any three” candidates.

A telephone-based device will be in place at the polls for the disabled, enabling blind voters in particular to vote in private, without assistance, if they wish.

Please remember to bring proper identification, such as your driver’s license.  If you have questions, call Registrars Pua Ford or Will Brinton at 393-2100, extension 121 or email vr.bethany@po.state.ct.us
