Water Available For Horses, Livestock and Pets at Bethany Fire House

"At this point it is an emergency for the town's animals." Derrylyn Gorski, First Selectman

With the town of Bethany in its fourth day of post-Irene power problems, many animal owners have reached the bottom of their water reserves. The town has brought in a tanker of water to help meet their needs.

“Cora Pool Water is donating water for the town’s animals,” said First Selectman Derrylyn Gorski. “The truck will be located between the firehouse and the public works garage and can be used by Bethany residents only.”

Gorski said donations from those using the water would be accepted and greatly appreciated.

“The owner of Cora is doing us a huge favor, so anything we can give back to him would be great,” she said.

The town is unable to deliver water, nor will it provide containers, so residents should bring their own. Clean, flat-bottomed garbage pails with tightly-fitted lids work well.

As before, water for flushing toilets is available at the Bethany Community School which is serving as the emergency shelter. The shelter is open until 8 p.m. every evening until the town has power again.
