Boys Cross Country Claims Easy Win Over East Haven

15-50 shutout for Number 2 ranked Spartans.

Placing 28 runners across the finish line before the first East Haven runner completed his race, the Amity boys cross country team opened the dual meet portion of its schedule with an easy 15-50 Southern Connecticut Conference shutout of the Yellowjackets  last Tuesday at the 3.1 mile Fitzgerald Trail course in Woodbridge. Adam Kelley finished first out of 41 runners. He toured the course in 17 minutes. Trailing him were teammates Mike Radin (2nd—17:03), Brendan Regan (3rd —17:08), Shae Belinski (4th—17:14), Nate Arndt (5th—17:17), Clark Shurtleff (6th—17:20), and Connor Dunleavy (7th—17:23).

“We ran well and packed nicely,” Coach Bob Orgovan said. “We are both talented and deep. Our first nine guys all finished under 18 minutes. Right now, I’d say that we are looking good.”

Currently ranked No. 2 in the state poll (behind Fairfield Prep), the Spartan harriers run against West Haven, Notre Dame, and Lyman Hall Tuesday at  4 p.m. in West Haven.
