Girls Swimming Leaves West Haven in Their Wake (Poll)

Lady Spartans easily overtake the Blue Devils 103-74.

Winning each of the meet’s first nine events, the Amity girls swim team opened up a huge lead over West Haven. Despite going exhibition in the meet’s final three events, the Black and Gold still opened the season by easily dunking the Blue Devils 103-74 in a Southern Connecticut Conference Tuesday night at the Orange Community Pool.

The winners were led by Madeline Snow, who won both the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 19.14 seconds) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.71). She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay (which also included Colby Champagne, Melissa Gulia, and Dana Grindall). Their winning time was 1:59. As usual, Grindall had a solid meet as she took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with her time of 24.58 seconds. She also anchored the winning 200 medley relay and combined with Rachel Holden, Samantha Austin and Jennifer Zhu to win the 200 free relay in 1:51.25.

Other Amity winners were: Anna Liu (200 free—2:00.87), Amanda Craig (diving—200.60 points), Lindsay Morton (100 butterfly—1:02.75) and Dana Chung (100 free—56.84).
