Search Underway for New Amity Superintendent

BOE asks for community input as the process begins.

The has begun the process of finding a new superintendent to step in when John Brady retires at the end of June. Brady in October.

"The board of education as a whole will serve as the search committee," Board Chairman Bill Blake said at the Monday meeting. "We interviewed consultant search firms and have hired CABE (Connecticut Association of Boards of Education) to assist."

The first step, according to Blake, is to get community input through focus groups made up of members of the towns and schools.

"The board is dedicated to getting community input to find a superintendent with the strength, character and leadership abilities we'd all like to see," said Blake. Focus groups will be formed over the next couple of weeks and will meet at the end of January and early February.

A new section will be added to the Amity Board of Education web site with links to surveys and updated information about the search within the next week or two.
