Woodbridge Votes Tuesday on $13.3 Million School Renovation

Voters must approve Beecher Road School project by two-thirds or trigger a second referendum.

Woodbridge registered voters and property owners are heading to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots on a $13.345 million package of energy upgrades for Beecher Road School.

If the proposal does not pass by two-thirds in Tuesday’s referendum, another vote will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27. (A second referendum would be preceded by another special town meeting on Feb. 20.)

The renovations being proposed include upgrades to the school’s heating and air-conditioning machinery, as well as the envelope (the physical separator between the interior and the exterior environments), according to Superintendent Dr. Guy Stella.

“A partial list of recommended items includes north roof replacement and increased insulation, mechanicals, ceilings and ductwork, window replacements, envelope improvements, energy conservation measures, green energy and alternative energy,” Stella explained in a post on Bethwood Patch.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Center Gymnasium on Meetinghouse Lane.

What are your thoughts on the renovation? How do you plan to vote?
