Make that three wins in a row for the Amity softball team. Following a season-opening set back to Sacred Heart, Coach Bob Purcell’s Lady Spartans have defeated West Haven, Jonathan Law, and North Haven. Amity clipped the Indians 7-2 Friday afternoon in a Southern Connecticut Conference inter-divisional contest that was played in Woodbridge.
Run-scoring singles by Monica Pustari and Lisa Gaudio gave the visitors a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but they would prove to be the only scores allowed by Lady Spartan hurler Krista Reynolds, who also posted her third consecutive victory. After giving up four hits in the top of the first, Reynolds allowed only two more hits during the remainder of the game. She also walked two Indians and struck out two.
Amity answered back and tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Back-to-back doubles by Jacqui Ferraiolo and Corinna Zdrowski accounted for the first run. Later in the same stanza, Zdrowski came home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jenn Post.

Ferraiolo led the winners with two hits, two runs, and a pair of RBIs.

According to Coach Bob Purcell, “I thought we played a great game against North Haven. Our defense was excellent. We made all the routine plays and C.J. (Semones) made a really nice running catch in the outfield. After the first inning, we got solid pitching from Krista and we also had some timely hits, especially in the bottom of the second and third innings. As a team, we are really playing well together. This is the best team chemistry we’ve had in my three years. The girls are all working hard, but they seem to be having fun too.”
