Boys Track Topples Lyman Hall, Takes Housy Title
Record at 10-0 for the year as they claim their 77th victory in a row.
A 24-3 edge in the three throwing events provided the impetus last week for the Amity boys track and field team’s 85-60 victory over Southern Connecticut Conference—Housatonic Division rival Lyman Hall. It was the Spartans’ 77th consecutive victory (dating back to 2004) and wraps up both an undefeated (10-0) overall record and another Housy championship with a 4-0 record.
Taylor Tambis led the way with a first place 150-feet 7-inch throw in the javelin and added a first place 150-6 in the discus. Charles Dunn and won the shot put (47-11 1/2) and added a second place 110-9 in the javelin.
According to Amity coach Thom Jacobs, “Any time you get a 150 foot discus throw, you are doing something right. He’s the #3 discus guy in the state. It was great seeing us go 1-2 in each of the three throwing events.”

Jacobs was also delighted with Jesse Sanchez’s 15.2 second victory in the 110 meter high hurdles and his similar results with a 43.6 in the 300 intermediate hurdles.
As far as Jacobs was concerned, the third highlight of the meet was Corey Ricks setting a new freshman record in the 100. His 10.9 erased the old mark of 11.1 set by Jason Ellis in 2002.
