Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Southbury proudly invite you to join us to our 65th Anniversary Party.

We’re having a party!  Join us from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 29, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio Franchise at our studio in Southbury, 316 Main Street South.
During the party, professional ballroom dancers will showcase smooth dances such as Tango, Waltz, and Foxtrot as well as Latin dances – Rhumba, Mambo, Cha Cha and more.
Attendees can dance with each other or our professional instructors as well as participate in group lessons to pick up a few new steps.
“Now that kids have returned to school, parents are redefining their schedules.  We want everyone to know about our studio because it’s a great place to rediscover yourself, with a combination of exercise and social interaction,” said owner and instructor Christian Lange.
An international dance champion himself, Mr. Lange promotes the concept that dancing is not about footwork but moving the whole body.
“It gets boring at a gym, watching a TV, ignoring the people sweating next to you, and feeling every moment of your workout.  Here, you can forget that you’re burning calories because you’re laughing and enjoying yourself and the other dancers.”
Co-owner Paulo Jorge agreed.  “Our goal is to make our students happy from the moment they walk into the studio.”
No experience is necessary and there are affordable packages for any age.
“Our Fred and Ginger Youth Program is important because they learn how to use their bodies.  When you dance, you develop coordination and balance, which is important for children who want to excel in sports such as football and soccer.”  Mr. Jorge said.
He points out that dancing builds self-esteem and confidence.  “Boys and girls learn to communicate well and develop respect for themselves and each other.  And it’s not just for the young.  It’s good to know how to dance so you’re not sitting uncomfortably while your wife waits for you to ask her to dance at the next black tie event or business party.”
Mr. Lange said the anniversary celebration will be much like the studio’s weekly dance parties on Friday evenings.  “What’s going on in our studio is a social happening.  In addition to the private and group classes, we want people to know about the fun they can have and make friends.”
“Our parties are like stepping into a stream.  It’s never the same twice,” said Mr. Jorge.  “Our themes included the Olympics and Hawaiian Luau and we look forward to a spectacular Halloween party as well as a masquerade ball.”
Everyone who attends the party on September 29 will be eligible to purchase a package of one full 45 minute private dance lesson, one group lesson, and an invitation to a Friday night dance party for $29.
“We want people to see for themselves what dance can do.”  Mr. Lange commented.  “You can be good without hours and hours of practice every day.  Just be consistent and you’ll be successful.”
While guests can decide to attend the party at the last minute, the studio asks attendees to RSVP by calling 203-267-7600 in order to plan food for the lavish buffet they have planned.
