Husky Pride: UConn Playing for NCAA Championships

Will the men and women repeat history from 10 years ago and both take home the national titles?

The UConn chants are growing louder as Husky Pride permeates the state.

The Huskies are coming off two big wins in the Final Four over the weekend and both the men's and women's teams are heading to the NCAA Championship games.

The men beat top-seeded Florida Saturday night, 65-53, and the women followed suit Sunday with a decisive 75-56 win over Stanford.

The undefeated women Huskies will be going up against another team that has not lost this year, Notre Dame — and that makes this the first time that two undefeated women's teams are competing for the national championship, CBS reports.

The men's championship game pits 7-seed UConn against 8-seed Kentucky. Tip off for the men's game is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. on April 7. It will be broadcast on CBS.

Top-ranked UConn women will take on 2-seed Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, according to the NCAA website.

"I think it's awesome," senior guard Bria Hartley told CBS. "Our men are excited for us, and we're doing the same for them. All the fans in Connecticut are really proud right now. Both teams have worked hard this year. Now the time has come, and we want to make sure we finish on a good note."
