Local, Consumer-Supported Micro-Farm in Connecticut, Bodhichitta Farms is a 1.5 acre micro-farm owned and farmed by Whitney and Chris Caporaso in Prospect, Connecticut.

The Caporasos employ sustainable, healthy, and ecological farming practices to provide fresh seasonal vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, maple syrup, honey, and eggs to local consumers. General InformationBodhichitta Farms is a CSA, a limited partnership in which individuals purchase “shares” of the harvest in advance and sometimes provide labor, depending on the particular CSA model. This enables the farmer to buy seeds, equipment and pay other production costs. In exchange, members receive a periodic “share-out” of fresh produce, with specific items and quantities determined by the extent of the harvest.

The farm itself is in Prospect, but due to town rules barring the "roadside sale of agricultural products," Bodhichitta Farms must sell their produce and distribute shares at farmer's markets and events in the greater New Haven area and not in Prospect.

Bodhichitta is a Buddhist concept that means "cultivating a courageous relationship with an open or awake mind and heart.” This is the guiding principle of the farm. The Caporasos grow nutrient-rich, chemical-free food and help people figure out how to store, prepare and eat it. Excess produce is donated to local soup kitchens and senior centers.
