wildlife encounter Friday 6/21, 8:45am
On the morning dogwalk, we saw a lone spotted fawn on Valley Road near Old Mill, walking slowly along the south side. It started walking toward us, bleating. (heartbreak!) Dog leaned forward whispering "woof," as she does when she knows she's not supposed to bark. The fawn headed down into the wetlands as we got closer & I couldn't see where it had gone.
I called a friend who advised me to call the police. I thought about their probable response, that we have an overpopulation of white-tailed deer, how hard it would be to take care of a fawn anyway. (Do Vulcans discuss the overpopulation of humans on this planet?)
