Katz's Deli: New Digs And A New Award

Fresh off an award from New Haven Living magazine, the Woodbridge business is now open following a renovation and expansion.

Katz's has a lot to brag about these days.

The Woodbridge deli and restaurant just opened the doors of its expanded and completely renovated space, at 1658 Litchfield Turnpike — its home since 1988. And it recently took home the honor of Best Deli in New Haven Living magazine's contest.

"Only thing missing from this authentic Jewish deli in Woodbridge is a Shecky Greene mother-in-law joke. Pastrami, brisket, and corned beef sandwiches so big you’ll have to loosen your Borscht Belt," the magazine writes.

More Space, More Offerings, More Hours

In a post on its Facebook page on Aug. 5, Katz's announced that it had opened its door following the renovation that nearly doubled its size.

With the added space, Katz's will be adding more seating and creating a bakery that will specialize in rye breads, bagels and traditional Jewish pastries, Jake Katz told us back in May. Jake's dad Steven has owned the deli since 1998.

Also, with its new digs, they'll start serving breakfast at 8 a.m. and stay open an extra two hours, till 10 p.m., Jake said.

What do you think of Katz's new space?
